Temiloluwa Dehinbo: My internship experience at Cardano
As part of the 10,000 Black Interns Program
Going into this internship, I didn’t have a clear picture of what I wanted to get out of it. I knew it would be good to network and build connections, and perhaps build on the little marketing experience I had from university. I certainly did not think that I would leave feeling so fulfilled in my role, with a clearer idea of what I wanted to do post university.
During the first week of the internship, I was invited to attend the Investment Marketing & Innovation Awards which was an excellent way of meeting those in my team and in the Netherlands team that I hadn’t yet met. The following week, myself and the other interns also attended the staff summer party, which was a really lovely way of meeting and connecting with people outside the office.
Social events aside, during my time here I have learned so much about marketing and the ways in which it can be employed in a company like Cardano. Previously, I had assumed that marketing was just limited to branding, website and social media and thus didn’t realise just how important it is to have an effective marketing team. Through working on the intranet and using applications like DotDigital and WordPress not only was I able to learn new digital skills, it also piqued my interest in digital marketing and made me realise that this was an area I would like to develop further. I was also tasked with carrying out a competitor audit as part of my final ESG presentation. Whilst initially daunting, with the support of my manager and others in the company I was able to confidently present my findings to a room full of people. As a naturally shy person, this is my most proud achievement from the entire internship.
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed my time here at Cardano and I think it is truly down to the people I have met and the opportunities I have been given to grow and progress. Although Cardano is different to other firms in this industry, having had such a positive experience I can leave having dispelled some of the preconceived notions about the corporate world through having such a positive experience.
